I’m reviewing the base version link download which includes the Qualcomm 870, 6GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage. The standard model is equipped with 6GB of RAM, which can be upgraded to 8GB or 12GB. Storage starts at 128GB UFS 3.1, which is very speedy, and can be upgraded to 256GB. It is worth mentioning that it’s not technically the fastest Black Shark, with the follow-up Black Shark 4S range – with a Snapdragon 888 Plus – readily available in China. But, given the delay with the Black Shark 4 Pro, it’ll be a while before that graces UK shores (if ever).

I do recommend topping up a little to get either the magnetic cooler or the previous generation for better thermals. Don’t get me wrong, the Black Shark 4 does well on its own, but it’s always better to be safe than sorry. The 4500 mAh battery is charged via the provided 120W charger in the box. At first I thought it was overkill, but considering that the battery was only able to last about a day on a single charge as a gamer, being able to charge back to full under 20 minutes offsets that problem. This however, is proprietary technology, so you can’t just use any 120W charger AND cable. You’re going to have to buy spares if you want easier accessibility.

• While I’m typically against comparing devices through benchmarks — nothing is more accurate than real-world use — here’s a snapshot of how the Black Shark 4 Pro fares in a sea of similarly priced handsets.
• You may upgrade or downgrade the Android firmware with flashing.
• No periodic discharge is needed and charging can be done at random.
• In short, Black Shark seems ready to break new records with its next Black Shark 4 , starting with its battery and who knows …

Though it’s a niche feature that not even all gamers will use, it’s a handy option for the power users among us. That means that touch input is detected much more quickly than traditional smartphone displays, resulting in lower latency and faster response times – especially crucial when playing competitive online games. There’s no question that the Black Shark 4 Pro is a capable handset, but for how long on a single charge?

But when these switches are activated, two shoulder triggers buttons emerge and snap into place. Against the RedMagic 7 and RedMagic 7 Pro or the Poco F4 GT, the Black Shark 5 Pro has its chances. But I’m thinking that the ROG Phone 6 from Asus will arrive soon, powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor.
